My love for you...

My love for you is strong

My love for you will always be

My love for you is like a song

My love for you is deep within me

My love for you has no end

My love for you is plentiful

My love for you is something I cannot pretend

My love for you is absolutely beautiful

My love for you has meaning

My love for you makes me content

My love for you has my soul gleaming

My love for you will never be absent

YOLO

I think about the saying that some people say, you only live once. This is so very true! Some people live their life doing things that are unhealthy because you only live once and some people live their life as healthy as can be because you only live once. There are people out there that have been given a life sentence by disease or something else that makes their life limited. You only live once is more defined for them. It  makes that statement more daunting for them and their loved ones. Like Kelly Clarkson says in her song stronger "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." and "What doesn't kill you makes a fighter."  My strength that I have today comes from the number of life situations that I have experienced. I'm still being that fighter to manage through the life that you only live once. I want to make the most of what I have of it and most important of all I want to make sure that the people I love and care about know that I do love them with all my heart.

Thinking of you

 Thinking of you

I think of you when I wake up in the morning.

Thoughts of your embrace are keeping me warm.

When I think of you all I can do is smile 😁

You make me feel better when I see you.

I often think of all the sweet things you say to me.

You are like magic for my soul.

Visions of your sweet smile fill my mind.

The way you tell me good morning makes my day complete.

You inspire me to be the best I can be.

I think of you when the sun goes down.

You are my last thoughts as I lay my head down to sleep.

I love you more!!💜💙

Faith

Faith=believing in something you can't see or touch.

Pastor gave an example of this. A little girl had five pennies and her mother asked her how many pennies she had. The little girl told her mother that she had 10 pennies. The mother said "No dear you do not have 10 pennies. You have five." The little girl responded back to her mother "Yes, Mommy because daddy said he is bringing five pennies back with him when he comes home." So the little girl had faith in her father bringing her the other five pennies so in her mind she had 10.

Dear ALS

 Dear ALS

How dare you take a father from his young children

How dare you take a husband from his wife

How dare you take a brother from his sisters

How dare you take a friend away from his friends

How dare you make a strong hard-working man weak

How dare you make a once healthy person suffer

How dare you be so cruel

Sincerely now a widow because of you😭😭😭😭

It's a cruel disease that literally eats your muscles one by one. For the caregiver it's just as hard to watch a fully functioning person become so weak that they can barely keep themselves upright. A roofer that can throw a bundle of shingles over his shoulder and climb the ladder onto the roof to a shell of a man, skin and bones, that can barely stand on his own.

Curveball

 Written on 4/10/12

When life throws you a curve ball you just do your best to swing the bat.

Two months before my 26th birthday my mother succumbed to a lung disease. It was at that time I made one of the biggest decisions in my life. I am the oldest of 5 children. My siblings were at the time 16, 13, 7 and 5. The decision was to continue taking care of them as I was while my mother was sick except as their guardian or let them go into the foster care system. I was told there was no guarantee that they would all be able to stay together and the loss of our mother was enough of a devestation they did not need to lose their siblings also. They were in my full time care for about 6 months before my mother's passing. So I decided that they would stay with me and I would become their full time guardian on June 1, 1998. This was a real hard decision, but also not one I regret.

Shortly after taking on the responsibility I learned that Jennifer Lopez had taken custody of her siblings as well. So I told myself that if someone with as busy a life such as her's must be, then I definitely could do it as well. There was some comfort in knowing that somewhere out there with someone in the same situation and that I wasn't the only one in this journey. It was tough with a lot of bumps in the road, but they are all adults now. Each one of them knows that they can come to me for whatever and I will do for them what I can as long as I have the means to.

Family is the most important thing to me. One thing I can tell people is things can be replaced for the most part, but what can never be replaced are people and time spent with them, so make the most of the time with your family and friends because they are things that are irreplaceable. I now have six kids of my own. They are ages 16, 12, 7, 4, and 2 year old twin boys. These are my most prized possessions.

So when you're faced with what seems to be the worst thing, hardest decision, or even some unforeseen circumstances in your life just keep in mind that curveball is coming at you, but the bat is really in your hands so swing wisely and carefully.

So I say today that time spent now is of the essence. You cannot go back and redo. You miss a moment now and it's missed forever.

My love note to my siblings

 Written on 10/29/11

To all of my siblings now that you are grown and on your own and to my children that will be one day too:

"I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow

And each road leads you where you want to go

And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose

I hope you choose the one that means the most to you

And if one door opens to another door closed

I hope you keep on walkin' 'till you find the window

If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile"

But more than anything...

"My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to

Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small

You never need to carry more than you can hold

And while you're out there getting where you're getting to

I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too" (Taken from the lyrics of the Rascal Flatts song My Wish)

To Kerri, Ronald, Danielle and Matthew:

I want to start out by saying it was NOT the easiest thing I've done in life, taking custody of all of you, but at the same time I DO NOT AT ALL regret it! If I had to do it all over again I would! I love you all and I hope you truly know it!

Simple things 💜

I am a lover and true believer in the simple things. Simple things are the important things in life. I am not looking for riches and fame. Being happy with the simple things makes life more enjoyable in my own opinion.

SIMPLE THINGS

A simple gesture of love can go a long way

A simple cup of coffee

A simple piece of chocolate

One single rose

A simple note of appreciation

A simply sweet text

A simple holding of the hand

A simple kiss

A nice walk

A nice dinner

A visit at lunch time

A phone call just to say hi how are you doing Simply just being present

A simple token of appreciation

A simple "You look nice today"

A simple embrace

Simple things are the best things

High school years

When in high school Mercia (who's name is  English and comes from names related to Mercy, this is a name of compassion and kindness.) spent her days getting off the school bus and staying home taking care of her siblings. She didn't go out and hang out with friends like most high schoolers did. Mercia became the other caretaker of her siblings in her parents absence which was a great deal of the time. This didn't bother her as much as most people would think because while she was in school she actually worried about her siblings. It was hard for her to concentrate actually because she would have worries such as her toddler brother choking and not being able to awake their mother to help him. It is this time that she learned the value of spending time with family and how very important it is.

My favorite saying

               You never know how

               strong you are

               until being strong

               is the only

              choice you have

I found this saying during one of the many tough moments in my life. I truly believe that trials in life can make or break you. For me personally...it made me who I am today. I'm a very strong and compassionate person.

People ask me often "Marcia how do you do it?" Well right there in that saying is how I do it. I just do what I have to do because it's the only choice I have.

To all my family and friends that have been by my side through thick and thin I love appreciate every single one of you near and far. 🤗💜
